This design incorporates a little bit of everything: silk ribbon, beautiful hand dyed threads and a splash of fabric painting. I love watching the bees as they fly around the garden going about their business, but I am also concerned that they appear to be struggling at the moment. If I were to keep bees, I would want to keep them in a lovely old beehive like this one. This beehive is painted using watercolour paints, or watercolour pencils and is painted before it is stitched. Then using beautiful hand painted silk ribbons and threads, create a garden perfect for bees. The kit includes all the silk ribbons and threads, a full set of instructions with colour stitch diagrams, needles and the design screened onto the fabric with backing muslin.
Kits from The Common Thread are beautifully packaged in textured card folders and tied closed with a soft silk ribbon. This means that they not only provide the perfect place in which to keep your work whilst you stitch, but that they also make lovely gifts.
To complete the kit you will need a pair of small pair of needlework scissors and 8″ embroidery hoop. These can all be bought from The Haberdashery
