Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how and when we collect, use and share information when you purchase an item from us, contact us, or use our services through thecommonthread.co.uk, or through its related sites and services.  It does not, however, apply to the practices of third parties that we do not own or control.

To fulfil your order you must provide us with certain information, such as your name, email address, postal address, payment information, as well as the details of the product you are ordering.  In addition, you may also choose to provide us with additional personal information if you contact us directly.

If we ask for your personal information for a secondary reason, such as marketing, we will either ask you directly for your consent, or provide you with an opportunity to say no.

We do not keep a record of your credit card details.  All transactions are handled securely through PayPal.

We may disclose your personal information if we are required by law to do so, or if you violate our Terms of Service.

The third-party providers used by us will only collect, use and disclose your information necessary to allow them to perform the services they provide to us.  Certain third-party service providers, such as payment gateways and other payment transaction processors, have their own privacy policy in respect to the information we are required to provide to them for your purchase-related transactions.

To protect your personal information we take reasonable precautions and follow industry best practices to make sure it is not inappropriately lost, misused, accessed, disclosed, altered or destroyed.

We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to provide you with our services as described in our Privacy Policy.  We generally keep your data for the period of 7 years.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely.  This is so that we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically, instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users who register on our website, we will store the personal information provided in your user profile. All users can see, edit or delete their personal information at time.  Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
