LET’S CELEBRATE WORLD EMBROIDERY DAY

This is the perfect opportunity to come together, to pick up needle and thread, and immerse ourselves in the joy of embroidery. My hope is to fill the day with slow and relaxing stitching, alongside good company and delicious food.

The day will start at 10.30am, if possible please arrive no earlier than 10.00am.  Tea, coffee and a biscuit will be served on arrival and it will give you a chance to find a seat and get settled for the day.  There will be a little time for us all to get to know one another before we start our stitching at 10:30am.  Whilst this is not a formal workshop, I will be on hand to help anyone who may need some assistance with their stitching.

But that’s not all—for World Embroidery Day I have invited a few carefully curated, small businesses to join us to add something extra to the day:

  • PGC-Soft Furnishing – Pauline creates beautifully handcrafted project bags for embroidery and sewing, made using exquisite fabrics from Cabbages and Roses and Acufactum. Thoughtfully designed and lovingly made, the perfect home for your stitching project.
  • Sookie Sou & The Sew Sisters – Susan will have some of her exquisite designs, kits and vintage linens with her.
  • The Sampler Guild – Linda will be there with her stash of cross stitch linens and of course her beautiful samplers.
  • Korry’s Little Shop – Loetitia will have her wonderful collection of threads: think Weeks Dye Works, Colourworks, Gloriana, as well as some of her Goldwork and Stumpwork supplies and kits.

Tea and coffee will be served mid morning, which will give you the opportunity to visit all of our wonderful stall holders. A delicious lunch will be served around 12.30pm, followed by more stitching, then afternoon tea and cake around 3.00pm. The day will end at around 4.30pm.

Also included in the price of your ticket will be a pretty goody bag with some stitching goodies and a couple of small kits for you to stitch on the day should you wish to. However, you are more than welcome to bring along your own stitching if that is what you would prefer to do.

Our venue for the day is the Village Hall in Old Warden; a lovely little village set in the heart of the Bedfordshire countryside. There is plenty of parking and other non-stitching halves / chauffeurs will find plenty to keep themselves occupied for the day. There is the Shuttleworth Collection and the Swiss Gardens just down the road, as well as The Hare and Hounds Pub right over the road from the village hall. Next door to the pub is a great B&B for those who are travelling.

The nearest train station is Biggleswade (Great Northern Rail) which is 4 miles away and has a taxi rank.
